More about the Morton’s Toe and High Heel Shoes

I get a lot of email about High Heel Shoes and Morton’s Toe (Long Second Toe).

When I tell women that most of the pains they get from high heels can be avoided, they just don’t want to believe me.

Look it is simply to understand:

In a women who has a normal foot, that is one  without a Morton’s Toe (Long Second Toe),  half of their foot is never meeting the ground in high heel shoes. This under the best of conditions will causes irregular stress on the balls of the feet.  This is bad enough for women with a normal foot but if you are a woman who has a, Morton’s Toe   (Long Second Toe) the classic, short first metatarsal bone, then your foot problems have just gotten much worst in high heels.

This is because not only are the balls your feet are under constant pressure but that constant pressure is being supported solely by the second metatarsal bone.  This is a train wreck for your feet if you have a Morton’s Toe  (Long Second Toe).

The good news is many women can be pain free by simply putting a little pad right behind their big toe or in their shoe. This pad is called the Toe Pad and you can read about it on the bottom of the first page of my website www.whyyoureallyhurt.com

Most of this stuff has been around for over 70 years.  Dr. Dudley J. Morton who was considered to be this country leading authority on the human foot, wrote about this in his 1935 book the Human Foot

You can read more about how to make make the Toe Pad yourself for about $2.00-$3.00 to treat the pain from high heels.  In Chapter 8 of my book Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts in the Foot, I go into detail about how to make the toe pad.
