Dr. Burton S. Schuler
Dr. Burton S. Schuler graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, 1975 at the age of twenty-four. He is a foot specialist and a leading medical expert about Morton’s Toe, Long Second Toe, and its complications. He has spoke, written and treated thousands of patients for Morton’s Toe over the years. For the past twenty-five years, he has practiced Podiatric Medicine, Pain Management and Foot Surgery in Panama City, Florida. In January 1994, the American Academy Of Pain Management accredited Dr. Schuler’s’ clinic as the first podiatry facility in the southern part of the United States with a pain program for the treatment of painful conditions of the feet.
His first book The Agony of De-Feet, A Podiatrist’s Guide to Foot Care was published in 1982. In 1992, Dr. Schuler had the distinct honor of becoming a contributor to Collier’s Encyclopedia and Encarta Encyclopedia on CD-ROM. His other accomplishments include writing articles on new ambulatory surgical techniques for the foot, which have appeared in leading podiatric journals and publications. He also has two screen treatments to his credit. He has been interviewed by such varied publications as the New York Times, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and First for Women. During his over third-of-a-century career, he has appeared on dozens of radio and television programs both in the United States and abroad when an expert regarding the human foot, Long Second Toe, and its problems was needed.
Dr. Schuler is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, a Diplomate of the National Board of Podiatric Examiners, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ambulatory Foot Surgery. He has been a professional member of the American Diabetes Association for many years, and is certified as a wound specialist by the American Academy of Wound Management. In 1979, he was chosen as one of the Outstanding Young Men in America by the United States Jaycees. Because of his both professional and civil achievements, Dr. Schuler’s biography was included in the 1999-2000 Who’s Who in America. His biography has also appeared in Who’s Who in Medicine and Health Care, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in Science and Engineering, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who in Emerging Leaders in America.
He has volunteered his time to numerous civic organizations. For nine years, he was a member of the Northwest Florida Regional Library Board. In 2004, he was chosen to be one of 27 proposed Presidential Electors by the Florida Democratic Party. He was a member of the Florida Delegation to the 1996 Democratic Convention in Chicago. From 1991 to 2008, Dr. Schuler represented the Democrats of Bay County, Florida as their State Committeeman. He is a member of Bay County Audubon, and a ham radio operator, KX4XX.
