This Sunday March 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. EST , Israel National Radio will interview Dr. Burton S. Schuler, of Panama City Florida, about his new book Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts In The Foot, the story of the Morton’s Toe Long Second Toe . The interview will take place on the Tamar Yonah Show . The show airs live Sundays 3 p.m. Israel time/ 8 a.m. US eastern, Mondays and Tuesdays 7 a.m. Israel time / 12 midnight US eastern and available on podcast on Israel National Radio.

Tamar moved to Israel from Southern California and after serving in the Israeli army began a prolific career in radio.

What Is a Morton’s Toe?

In the 1920’s thru 1950’s Dr. Dudley J. Morton who taught at the Yale and Columbia Medical Schools, and who was considered to be this country leading authority on the human foot, stated that a problem with one bone in your foot, (Morton’s Toe) was the major reason for most foot problems. Building on his work Dr. Janet Travell, White House physician to President John F. Kennedy, and President Lyndon B. Johnson, and who was also Professor Emeritus of Medicine at George Washington University wrote that Morton’s Toe could also cause pain all over your body. She taught that a Morton’s Toe could cause back, hip, knee, and leg, foot, and ankles problems. It has also been shown that a Morton’s Toe can also cause fibromyalgia, arthritis; sleep disturbances (RLS), temporomandibular joint pain, and numerous other problems through out the body. The good news is that the average person can easily treat all of these problems caused by a Morton’s Toe with a simple two-dollar pad.

Why is Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts in the Foot, important?

“This book gives new information about why millions of people suffer everyday with aches and pains, and offers new hope to these people for getting rid of the problems that they believed they would have to live with forever. It literally can be the “medical missing link”.

Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts in The Foot was published on April 1 2009, and has been #1 on Amazon Best Sellers list for medical\allied health professions\podiatry for some time.

The book is published by the La Luz Press, Inc, and is distributed national by the Cardinal Publishing Group of Indianapolis, In. It has foreign book distributors’ in Germany, U.K., Netherlands, Canada, South Africa, and India. It will be translated into Greek in late 2010

us a great deal of pain.

WHAT THIS PAIN FEELS LIKE

The most common pains people have at their heels or arches is

pain when they first get out of bed in the morning (most common).

pain upon standing, after resting or sitting for a while, during

A question I always ask of these people is

“did you have to hold on to something just to get out of bed or to

If they did, then I know that this person has a fairly bad case of

heel or arch pain.

The medical term for this pain upon rising is called “Postatic

WHAT IS PLANTAR FASCIITIS

The single most common heel problem seen in this country is Plantar

Fasciitis or Heel Pain Syndrome. Plantar Fasciitis is an

inflammation and/or swelling of the plantar fascia. The plantar

fascia is a large, tough, fibrous rubber band band-like structure

that holds up the inside part of your foot.

It starts at the heel bone then travels across the whole bottom of

the foot and attaches into the toe bones. The plantar fascia can

be strained for numerous reasons, including Morton’s Toe. When this

occurs, it can be swollen and inflamed, causing “Plantar

Fasciitis”. Like heel bursitis, it can also cause you to have

Heel Bursitis

A bursa is a fluid-containing sac that acts as a shock absorber

over areas of pressure on the body. A bursitis is an abnormal

inflammation of the bursa sac caused by abnormal excessive

the heel bone, there are two bursa sacs: one on the bottom and the

other on the back. Specifically on the bottom of the heel, it is

known as an Inferior (bottom) Calcaneal (heel) Bursa. On the back

of the heel, it is called the Retro (back) Calcaneal Bursa.

When either of these bursas become abnormally stressed, strained,

that is the reason for pain in the heel upon arising (Poststatic

either develop these bursitis with or without the presence of heel

spur (explanation to follow). As stated before, Morton’s Toe can

cause this by causing over pronation in the foot.

HEEL SPUR

Heel Spurs are abnormal projections of bone growing out either from

the bottom or back of the heel. Over a period of years, Morton’s

Toe can cause these spurs to form due to pronation. This

pronation can cause a tearing away of the plantar fascia from the

heel bone. When this occurs, new bone ( is produced. This is how

a heel spur is formed. On x-ray, the new spur can appear as a fish

hook coming out of the heel bone.

HOW MORTON’S TOE CAUSES HEEL AND ARCH PROBLEMS

The reason heel problems arise in the presence of Morton’s Toe

goes back to what I wrote about before in report #4 concerning

pronation. If you have a Morton’s Toe the foot is unstable when

it needs to be stable. Because of this, the foot will be forced

to abnormally pronate. When this happens improper stress and

strains are applied to many areas of the foot, including the

plantar fascia and the heel bone. It is these stress and strains

that can start all of the heel problems noted above. It is that

simple. Most heel and arch problems are not caused by shoes or job.

But are caused by the Morton’s Toe .

My next report will be about Bunions and the Morton’s Toe

the day.

pain upon getting out of their car after driving for a while.

A question I always ask of these people is

“did you have to hold on to something just to get out of bed or to

stand up?”

If they did, then I know that this person has a fairly bad case of

heel or arch pain.

The medical term for this pain upon rising is called “Postatic

Dyskinesia”, and is seen in many other conditions effecting

abnormal stress to the body. and types of arthritis.

(Long Second Toe) When this

occurs, it can be swollen and inflamed, causing “Plantar

Fasciitis”. Like heel bursitis, it can also cause you to have

Poststatic Dyskinesia.

Heel Bursitis

A bursa is a fluid-containing sac that acts as a shock absorber

over areas of pressure on the body. A bursitis is an abnormal

inflammation of the bursa sac caused by abnormal excessive

pressure, stress and/ or strain over the area it is protecting. On

the heel bone, there are two bursa sacs: one on the bottom and the

other on the back. Specifically on the bottom of the heel, it is

known as an Inferior (bottom) Calcaneal (heel) Bursa. On the back

of the heel, it is called the Retro (back) Calcaneal Bursa.

When either of these bursas become abnormally stressed, strained,

or swollen, the result is bursitis of the heel. It is this bursitis

that is the reason for pain in the heel upon arising (Poststatic

Dyskinesia) in the morning or after resting for a while. You can

either develop these bursitis with or without the presence of heel

spur (explanation to follow).

A week rarely goes by without someone asking me the difference between a Morton’s Neuroma and a Morton’s Toe (Long Second Toe) .

A Morton’s Neuroma was first written about by Dr. Thomas George Morton in 1875. It is a. abnormal thickening or swelling of a nerve, resulting in shooting pains into the toes or ball of the foot. It turns out that the Morton’s Toe can cause a Morton’s Neuroma.

In 1935 his book The Human Foot he explained about the Morton’s Toe , and how it can cause a Morton’s Neuroma, due to the abnormal stress the Morton’s Toe puts on the medial plantar nerve, which lies on the bottom of the foot between the metatarsal bones. It is just a coincident that two famous foot problems were named after two different doctors named Morton.

Foot surgery for a Morton’s Neuroma should be a last result. Most doctors are not aware of the relationship between the two and how treating the Morton’s Toe can elimated the need for foot surgery for the Morton’s Neuroma many many times. I write alot more about this in this web site, Just click on Neuroma to read more.

Every year thousands of people who have burning feet are diagnosed, by their physicians, with Peripheral Neuropathies as the cause of their burning feet. If they also have Diabetsis, it is a better bet that these people will be told that the reason for their burning feet is the Diabetsis and they have a condition known as Diabetic Neuropathies. Both of these conditions are related to each other and are changes in the nerves in the feet and legs.

Many of them are prescribed powerful drugs such as Lyrica, Neurontin, or Cymbalta to treat these neuropathies. I absolutely feel that in many cases (when these drugs do not work) these patients are being misdiagnosed and are taking these drugs unnecessarily. Often many of these people do not have neuropathies, (either peripheral or diabetic) but just have a very common foot problem known as the Morton’s Toe (Long Second Toe), which can also cause burning feet. But, Morton’s Toe can easily be treated for $2-3.00. without any drugs.

The problem is the average physician has not been trained about the Morton’s Toe and many of them just assume that their patient’s burning feet is due to serious neuropathies and not the very common and easily treatable Morton’s Toe. As you will see in about ten seconds, the Morton’s Toe is a well-established medical condition that just has been forgotten about and the modern doctor is not trained to think about.

I am not telling you that your physician is wrong when it come to Peripheral or diabetic Neuropathies. What I am saying is that if you have been treated for several months for it, either with or without drugs, and you are not getting any better, it is time to start thinking that the reason for your burning feet is your feet, and not a complicated neurological problem like peripheral or diabetic neuropathies. For starter take your shoes off and see if you have a Long Second Toe which is associated with the Morton’s Toe. Then read everything you can about the Morton’s Toe

Dr. Janet Travell, wrote and taught for four decades that a common foot problem known as a “Morton’s Toe” (Long Second Toe) could be the real cause of back, hip, knee, leg, foot and ankles problems. Dr Travell was Presidents Kennedy and Johnson White House doctor.

A “Morton’s Toe” means having either one or both of two abnormal, inherited conditions of the first metatarsal bone of the foot.

The first abnormal condition, and the most noted one, that can cause Morton’s Toe is where your first metatarsal bone is shorter than your second metatarsal bone.

The second condition is when your first metatarsal bone is not as stable as it should be, and as a result, has too much motion. This is known as “Hypermobility of the First Metatarsal Bone.”

Either one of these can be the cause why you got out of bed hurting today. You owe it to yourself and family to learn more about the Morton’s Toe

Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts In The Foot , is a ground breaking book regarding the forgotten reasons for pain thru out the body

The book written by Dr. Burton S. Schuler, a foot specialist of Panama City, Florida and published by the La Luz Press, Inc., is the story of how one bone in your foot could be the real reason for pains thru out your whole body. This book is important because it offer the public new information about why millions of people suffer everyday with aches and pains, and offers new hope to get rid of problems they believed they would have to live with forever. It literally can be the “medical missing link”

In the 1920’s and 1930”s Dr. Dudley J. Morton of Yale Medical University and Columbia Medical School wrote that a problem with the 1st metatarsal bone, known as a Morton’s Toe could be the reason for most foot problems. Dr. Janet Travel, White House physician to Presidents Kennedy and Johnson, and Professor Emeritus of Medicine at George Washington University took this concept further by writing and teaching that the Morton’s Toe could cause pain all over your body. She wrote and taught for four decades that a “Morton’s Toe could cause, back, hip, knee, leg foot and ankles problems. This book will show how it can also cause fibromyalgia, sleep disturbances, and TMJ. The good news is that all of these problems can be treated with a simple pad that costs about two to three dollars.

Eli Manning has a Plantar Fasciitis according to the New York Giants. The major question is does he also have a Morton’s Toe . This is important because if he does have a Morton’s Toe, it can be really aggravating his Plantar Fasciitis . In fact in the last 48 hours I have been asked alot about this and been interviewed several times.

A plantar fasciitis is a swelling of the heel and or arch. It is the most common type of pain on the bottom of the heel. It is caused by a ongoing injury at the place the plantar fascia attaches to the heel bone. This spot on the bone is called the medial tuberosity of the heel. If there is an abnormal pulling or tugging at this spot, because of the Morton’s Toe it can resulting in pain and inflammation occur at the plantar fascia . This pain and swelling is known as plantar fasciitis

What is a Morton’s Toe?

In the 1920’s and 1930″s Dr. Dudley J. Morton of Yale Medical School and Columbia Medical School wrote that a problem with the 1st metatarsal bone, known as a Morton’s Toe could be the reason for most foot problems. The good news is that all of these problems can be treated with a simple pad that costs about two to three dollars. .

One of the most common problems I see on a daily basis is burning on the balls of the feet. When I ask the patient to point to where it hurts they normally point to fat pad on the bottom of the foot right below where the 2nd-4th toes attach to the foot The medical term for this problem is Metatarsalgia. For great information of this go to my other web, site WWW.Footcare4u.com

I absolutely feel that the burning on the balls of the feet is most often caused by our old friend The Morton’s Toe (Long Second Toe) . This burning can take place with or without a callous being present. You need to read more about the Morton’s Toe, (Long Second Toe) because it can explain very easily, why your feet really burn.

The problem is, as I wrote about in an early blog called “How-burning-feet-are-often-misdiagnosised”

Burning feet is often mistaken for another more serious medical problem known as Peripheral Neuropathies. This is important stuff to know, so read this blog, it can change your life.

Regardless simple burning feet caused by The Morton’s Toe (Long Second Toe) is easy to treat with the toe pad. Go to the bottom of page 1, of Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts In The Foot and you can see the pad for yourself.

Don’t suffer with burning feet, they are very easy to treat if you get the proper treatment from a physcian who knows what he or she is doing.

According to official Paris Hilton web site, Paris and Nickie were seen at LAX, and they both have a Morton’s Toe. The posting by “Watcher” goes on to say that “this shows that Paris and Nickie have a good level of “pure breeding” within a particular ancient line”

When asked to comment Dr. Burton S. Schuler, author of Why You Really Hurt: It All Starts In The Foot, the story of the Morton’s Toe , and this country’s leading authority on the Morton’s Toe, and all of the medical problems associated with it stated:

“what nonsense, the Morton’s Toe has no more to do with pure breeding then it does for being the reason that Sarah Palin retired as governor, because of her Morton’s Toe “. Schuler goes on to say that, “the Morton’s Toe is an important medical condition that more people and physicians should take seriously because it could be the real cause of millions of them suffering everyday with aches and pains.

Poor Paris I feel so bad for her. She is just like the rests of the millions of us who have Morton’s Toe . Do you think she should buy my book ?
