Testimonials

I was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis, a neuromuscular disease, app. 4 years ago, presenting with several symptoms which had been ongoing for app. one year; the worst of which were my legs; they ached and hurt and cramped all the time in addition to getting weaker and weaker. Some diagnostic tests confirmed the diagnosis of MG, some did not, some were inconclusive; we treated “as if”. My condition has remained constant. About one month ago, my left foot began aching and became increasingly difficult to walk on. After a couple of weeks with no improvement, I made an appointment to see Dr. Burton Schuler. He applied padding to the bottom of both of my feet which I wear all the time and go in twice a week to have changed. He says some of my problem may be due to having a Morton’s Toe. Only time will tell if I have MG, but I can tell you this with no hesitation. From the first day Dr. Schuler applied the pads to the bottom of my feet, my legs have not hurt — not once. That is for the first time in all these years. No cramping at night, no aching, no pain in my legs which I call nothing short of miraculous. Not only that, but the aching in my hips has improved; I am not stiff when I get out of bed in the morning and can actually walk normally immediately upon getting up! I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Schuler for what he has done for me because I’m living proof it works.

This book has been brilliantly written, with the sincerest of purposes. To help people through the use of preventative measures. To give hope to the millions of people who suffer daily, whose lives are in upheaval while they search for magic to stop the pain, to sleep, to walk, just to feel better. Dr. Dudley Morton, first wrote about the devastating effects of a shortened 1st metatarsal bone in the 1920s. He actually patented the first form of the Toe Pad and taught hundreds of his fellow medical peers his theory. One of whom, was Dr. Janet Travel, who not only became the White House physician for President Kennedy and Johnson but went on to research Myofascial Pain Syndrome and how the domino effect of a Morton´s Toe could cause it. Simply explained, a Morton´s Toe means that the 1st metatarsal bone, which attaches the big toe to the rest of the foot, is shorter than the 2nd metatarsal bone. This causes the 2nd toe to be longer than the big toe. You might ask yourself, how can 1 short bone cause such damage? To understand the answer, I strongly urge you to read this informative book. It is believed that a simple, inexpensive, homemade Toe Pad, may alleviate a major portion of related chronic conditions, avoiding years of pain, medications and even perhaps surgery. The author, Dr. Burton S. Schuler details many outcomes that could be caused by this condition and the benefits of the Toe Pad. He advises some cautions when first wearing it and the reason for the use of heat, which increases blood circulation. He writes some preventive suggestions in regards to sports activities and wearing high heels. As he says, "Feet and all other injuries are easier to prevent than repair." The book is written for the layperson, simple vocabulary, yet very detailed. It includes pictures, X-rays, humorous cartoons, index and glossary. Doctor Schuler has been in Podiatric healthcare for over 30 years, practicing in Panama City, Florida. He is a long time professional member of the American Diabetes Association and is a Certified Wound Specialist. This is his second published book, along with numerous articles and interviews. I have only mentioned a few of his many achievements. As a recipient of titanium-coated implants in both big toes, I can say with all honesty that I wish I had read this book 20 years ago. I do intend to try the Toe Pad to see if it would still help with other chronic problems. I am honored to have read and reviewed this book and I Highly Recommend Why you Really Hurt.
